This device
If the laptop is being replaced, sold, or has left the office.
What this system cannot do. It cannot authenticate anyone, detect a
breach, or stop someone who has the device. The four-digit code stops the wrong person picking
the wrong name; it is not a lock. Anyone with this laptop and a browser can read what's on it.
Treat it exactly as you'd treat a filing cabinet of signed agency agreements — locked screen,
full-disk encryption on, and it doesn't leave the office. Proper access control needs a server,
and until that exists this is a beta on a trusted device, not a system of record.
Find everything about one person
For a request to see what you hold, or to be removed. Searches every store.
Under the Privacy Act a person can ask what you hold about them and ask
for it to be corrected. Erasure isn't an automatic right in Australia the way it is in Europe,
and some records must be kept — a signed agency agreement, trust account records. Check before
you erase anything attached to a transaction.
